This 2d animation is inspired by La Edad De Oro, a classic book by Jose Marti that celebrates the spirit of Cuban children. I wanted to show the contrast between the idealized childhood depicted in the book and the harsh realities faced by many kids in a crumbling city. I used Photoshop to animate the elements from the book’s cover and Premiere Pro to add color and effects. The music is an original composition made in Garageband that reflects the mood and tone of the animation.
